The new Don Watson Aquatics Center is a showcase for the rich legacy of Hinsdale Central High School's swim and dive program. The highlight of this state-of-the-art replacement facility is a 10 lane, stretch 40-yard pool with movable bulkhead, allowing both swim and dive competitions to take place at the same time, as well as enhanced physical education and team practice opportunities. Separate men’s, women’s and single-use wet locker rooms, an enlarged deck area and dedicated space for coaches, storage and spectator amenities replace an undersized 6-lane, 25-yard pool that regularly required major repairs.
Additionally, the Hinsdale South Aquatic Center Building was expanded to accommodate the increased pool size, necessitating a complete demolition and subsequent rebuild of the existing space.
