Meet Scott!

After growing up in a construction family, Scott spent three years working in a different sector after graduating from college before he decided to return to his passion for construction and join Pepper, as a Project Engineer. Shortly after that, Scott spent 10 years in the self-perform group, where he developed the skills and understanding of construction techniques and details to go along with his passion for estimating and true value engineering. As Scott’s expertise grew, he was asked to expand his influence and focus on securing new work with Pepper’s GC teams. In 2004, the company formalized a preconstruction group under Scott’s leadership. In this role, his first project was the JW Marriott hotel in Grand Rapids. In 2013, Scott was asked to step aside from preconstruction in what turned out to be a five and a half year role as part of our executive management team during the historic renovation and restoration of Wrigley Field. Today, Scott is known as an industry leader and is well known for his unmatched expertise and his collaborative approach to working with design teams to develop solutions that provide the most value possible for his clients.

This award is one of what would eventually become a long list – easily over 100 – of successes. Scott’s team possesses unique abilities allowing them to deliver a combination of high-level expertise as well as highly detailed, building-system-specific expertise. They have deep knowledge as it relates to every trade, and when something unusual arises, they bring specific, detailed knowledge. The combination of generalists and experts is critical in support of our company philosophy – as a project-management focused GC -- from proposal through punch-list.
