Overcoming Project Challenges
One large challenge of Rickenbacker 717 was keeping the schedule on track despite the most spring rain and the harshest winter Columbus has recorded in over 25 years . The site was designed to maximize the use of on-site soil. This was accomplished through sheet draining storm water runoff to interconnected storm water retention basins. Additionally, Pepper’s standard practice of installing under slab drainage in design-build warehouses helped alleviate the moisture problems in the spring. If not for this forward thinking approach, Pepper would not have been able to utilize lime stabilization on the building pad and ensure the schedule remained intact.
