Construction of the new meerkat exhibit transformed the existing Indianapolis Zoo’s Desert Building into a dynamic new environment for mammals, free-roaming reptiles and free-flying birds. The complete interior redesign of the existing Desert Building included construction of a new holding area and exhibit space with a glass wall containment system, a wood ramp and walkway, pigmented exposed aggregate concrete walk and artificial rock construction. The exhibit also features an 80-foot diameter transparent dome.
