When the Houston Zoo decided to renovate their Elephant House, they wanted to upgrade facilities while simultaneously increasing visitor access to the animals.
- The new facility provides individual bedrooms for five elephants and animal management facilities that allow the public to view the elephants while in their bedroom environment.
- Additional improvements include a hay storage area, a keeper area, and a shift/squeeze facility that allows for medical and physical attention including a digital scale for weight checks.
- Keeping the future in mind, the contract scope also included major site preparations for future zoo exhibits.
