Community involvement

On August 9, 2024, Pepper’s Indiana team once again volunteered at the Gleaners Food Bank distributing center, sorting through a large quantity of boxed and canned foods.

Pepper is helping to relieve hunger across Indiana

Gleaners Food Bank

Since 2019, the Pepper team in Indiana has dedicated countless hours to supporting Gleaners Food Bank in the fight against hunger, making a significant impact on families and individuals in communities across the State.

Our most efforts that day resulted in the preparation of approximately 3,000 meals. Volunteers play a crucial role in Gleaners’ mission to combat hunger, as the efforts of annual volunteers effectively equal the work that a full-time staff of 35 could provide.

While Gleaners purchases nearly half of the food it distributes to neighbors, the food bank also receives product donations from several retailers. Thanks to volunteers who help sort and package these donations, the Gleaners can extend its reach within the community.

CANstruction

In addition to volunteering at the distribution center, the Pepper team participated in the CANstruction event at the Indiana State Fair. CANstruction is a combination of a food drive and a design competition, and the team collaborated with Guidon Design and Russell & Peckinpaugh to create a remarkable piece depicting artist Bob Ross painting one of his iconic nature scenes. The team spent months planning and designing the masterpiece, which was constructed using 3,299 cans of food, including various items such as canned beans, spaghetti noodles and taco seasoning. Once the fair is over, Gleaners will collect the canned goods to bring back to the center for distribution across the state.

Stewardship is on of Pepper’s primary values and we are dedicated to partnering with organizations whose missions are essential in supporting communities. We’re proud that our team’s volunteer efforts and participation in a spirited design and construction competition provided food for many in our state. By putting Pepper’s leadership and dedication to serving others into action, we know that we’re helping to transform tomorrow for the communities where we live and work in multiple ways.
