Construction of this 694,000-square-foot, 10-story patient bed and surgery tower shared two building elevations with an active children’s hospital. Located in the center of an urban medical campus, the tower features private patient rooms, med-surgical rooms and an imaging department. Before construction began, Pepper implemented a 20-phased make-ready plan that relocated 52 departments and coordinated 120 different utility shutdowns. The existing structure was then demolished in preparation for the new tower. Additional features include a roof-mounted helipad, loggia, parking garage and new facilities building. The building is situated on a tight site and shared an entrance with the ambulance drive during construction.
