The Plymouth Place senior-living facility in LaGrange Park, Illinois, originally established in 1939 by members of the La Grange Congregational Church, has undergone a comprehensive phased renovation and expansion.
Phase One included ground floor renovations to create more intimate dining venues, a theater and space for a library, salon and bodega. These enhancements provide residents with more personalized and comfortable living spaces, fostering a sense of community and well-being.
Phase Two saw the construction of the new Center for Healthy Living, featuring women's and men's locker rooms, an aquatics center, a kitchen and dining venue and five hybrid apartment buildings with 58 independent living units and interconnected garage parking. This phase also included wellness renovations, expanding the fitness studio and equipment room to integrate with the new Center for Healthy Living. Additionally, the facility now boasts four new independent living villas totaling 120,000 square feet, a precast parking garage topped with a green roof, and a 30,000-square-foot building addition.
Additional amenities introduced during this phase include a swimming pool, resistance pool, golf simulator, bocce ball courts, pickleball courts and pergolas. The grounds also showcase a four-acre pond that includes a fish habitat. These additions are designed to promote an active and engaging lifestyle for residents, ensuring a variety of recreational and social opportunities.
Phase Three will complete the residential development with the construction of five more hybrid apartment buildings, housing 36 independent units. This final phase will further expand the community to offer more living options for the growing number of residents.
