Replacing the Daily Herald’s previous printing center, this new building is designed to increase printing capacity and quality with new equipment. Two state-of-the-art printing presses — installed on 200’ x 25’ concrete table that stands 15 feet high — allow the facility to print up to 65,000 newspapers per hour. Built on a 24-acre site, the project includes a wetland, detention pond and railroad access for delivery of newsprint rolls and other supplies. The printing center is powered by two different power grids, ensuring there’s always power to keep facilities running and get the newspaper out.
